  1. ‘Bulletproof’ and ‘Safe House’ actor is the latest big name to join the board of the British Urban Film Festival

The actor was given an honorary award last month by the British Urban Film Festival in recognition of a career which started at the age of 10 with ‘The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles’ in 1992. Other notable screen roles have included ‘Top Boy’, ‘Sugarhouse’, ‘Bullet Boy’ and ‘Get Rich or Die Trying’. Walters recently starred in ITV drama ‘Safe House’ and is in pre-production with Noel Clarke on cop drama ‘Bulletproof’, set to air on Sky next year.

Walters joins fellow honoree Wil Johnson (currently starring in Starz drama ‘Outlander’) who also sits on the board in addition to 3 BAFTA award winners (Charlie Hanson, Damian Jones and Adam Deacon).

In total, there are four new patrons to add to the 17 who currently form the BUFF board. Other new appointments announced today include actress Kim Vithana (‘North Square’/’The Few’/’Coronation Street’) and Mohammed George (‘Eastenders’/’Murder Capital’/’Remembrance Day’), all three of whom had films exhibited in the BUFF 2017 programme.

The BUFF patrons will support the British Urban Film Festival in an ambassadorial capacity throughout the year and adjudicate on films submitted for consideration in the 2018 British Urban Film Festival. They will also cast votes in each of the nominee categories for the 2018 BUFF Awards.

The qualities that he will bring to our board, along with Kim, Mhammed and Sam cannot be underestimated as our festival embarks on its’ 13th year as the home of urban film coverage in the UK”.
