Diversity is still a real issue in the hair and beauty industry, not only in regards to including people in higher positions or power but also with hiring people of colour. It was important to both Precious Awards founded by Foluke Akinlose MBE and Premae Skincare owner, Dr Clare Anyiam-Osigwe BEM to produce a platform where women of colour entrepreneurs are not only appreciated but crowned for their efforts and contribution.
With the very first Precious Hair and Beauty Awards which is set to take place in June, finalists in the five categories of the awards, were announced on 11 May. So it’s always very satisfying and very inspiring when you get prestigious online magazine such as Melan Mag follow the movement.
